Welcome, dear reader. It’s a great privilege and pleasure to have you here. Thank you for choosing to check out my written work.
Before you set out to explore all that’s here, let me tell you why this website came into being. To cut a long story short, it’s something I resorted to in order to convince myself that I have indeed produced written work of some value over the last ten years since I began blogging actively in February 2005. Between two children and the decision to leave behind a paying career for their sake and an online literary magazine that I started five years back to do what I really love to do, I have been trying hard to figure out if I have been doing the right thing in my life. The putting together of this website has convinced me that writing is my anchor, my companion and my pride.
It’s hard to imagine what life would be like for me without writing. As someone who has been writing seriously in the online space over the last ten years, I have been privileged to enjoy a readership that has made me believe that I have brought them joy and a feeling of ‘been there, done that’ through my words. It’s priceless, this feeling of making someone happy with what you can express through words.
This website is a dream come true for me – it’s an amalgamation of what I enjoy writing, what I stand for and believe in, and what I dream of and imagine about life and such. I have captured my perceptions through poems, essays, stories, interviews and features. The one tag that would fit every single post of this website is ‘Life is like that’ – the title of this site. I am fascinated by human life, the people who live it, the experiences they go through, the relationships they get into and the huge fabric of emotions they experience. Much of my writing revolves around this. I love to observe, imagine and express the result of marrying the two through words. I hope you will find my pieces engaging, relate-able and enriching.
Now that the website has been introduced, here’s something about me.
I am Anupama, a dreamer, book and music lover, passionate writer. My sincere wish is to educate, entertain and spread happiness through the written word.
I love Physics and English and managed to get degrees in both – studying Engineering and then Journalism. Yet, as I discovered a few years ago, it is the written word that delights my soul and so here I am, doing what I love to do – spinning tales for my small audience and for my son, singing lullabies to my daughter, bringing together a lovely team of creative people and spearheading Spark (more on that in a bit). I love books, music, notebooks and colour pens and truly admire simplicity in anything.
I am Editor-in-Chief of Spark, an online literary magazine that I founded in January 2010. Spark aims to explore word, world and wisdom through writings, art and photography.
